Mimio
The new Mimio Interactive software the school bought is hugely beneficial as it makes the lessons visual, interactive and interesting! The Mimio Interactive package consists of a mimio Interactive Xi Bar and a mimio Interactive stylus. The mimio Interactive Xi Bar gets mounted on the wall next to your board. It gets plugged into your computer with a USB port. The computer then gets connected to a data projecter and then turns the board into an interactive whiteboard.
The stylus gets used as a mouse, so you can manipulate anything on your computer from the whiteboard! Learners are much more involved in lessons as they can easily manipulate the Stylus to get a desired outcome on the computer.
The mimio helps learners with concentration, joint attention, communication skills as well as turn taking, waiting skills and working together as a group. The school bought additional software from other sources which is targeted at Special Schools. This software can be used with the mimio Interactive software.
