Fund raising

Substantial funds are needed to develop and maintain a sophisticated service like Vera School. Unfortunately the subsidy we receive from the provincial government is not nearly enough to keep afloat, let alone operate as a dynamic resource centre. Furthermore we are under constant threat of funding being cut and of loosing staff because government can not afford to employ them. We are not informed of what the norm is to maintain our presently allocated staff. There is pressure to increase the learner staff ratio. This situation creates anxiety within staff with regard to job stability. It has an adverse effect on staff morale. People who are committed and who work very hard, find it more difficult when their efforts seem to go unrecognized and they have to face a reality where demands are unrealistic, rendering their efforts ineffective.
